Building Permits
City Council enacts ordinances to regulate construction, maintenance, and remodeling so that the buildings where we live, work, and play will be safe. The City uses permits to make sure that the work is done in compliance with those ordinances.
The City of Crosby enforces national and international building codes adopted by the State of Minnesota. These codes are available online.
Getting a building permit helps you to ensure that your project meets safety and building code standards and there is a penalty for starting construction prior to the issuance of a building permit. Many building permits can be issued over the counter at City Hall and require very little wait time.
In addition to permits, please contact the Planning & Zoning Administrator, Mitch Hinnenkamp for information on setback requirements, lot coverage, fences, shoreland regulations and other land use questions. Mitch can be reached at 218-541-5512 or email: planning@cityofcrosby.com
We encourage you to call with any questions regarding all construction projects being considered prior to beginning work.
A building permit must be filled out completely and submitted to City Hall in person or sent to adminassist@cityofcrosby.com
The forms can be accessed on this page or picked up at City Hall.
The completed and signed building permit is sent to the Building Inspector for review and he will contact you directly with questions, or if additional information is required.
