Body-Worn Camera Program

The law enforcement profession is rapidly evolving. This evolution brings new demands for transparency and incident documentation. The Crosby Police Department embraces these changes as an opportunity to better serve our citizens.

In 2016, with the values of Honor, Integrity, Service, and Excellence in mind, the Crosby Police Department began the process of researching and instituting a “Body-Worn Camera” Program. Following new legislation, multiple public meetings, a public comment period, conversations with community stakeholders and agencies, and approval from the Crosby City Council the Crosby Police Department began its Body-Worn Camera Program on February 16th, 2021.

Visual Labs

The Crosby Police Department's Body-Worn Camera Program utilizes the Visual Labs application. This application utilizes a fully functional smartphone as a body-worn camera rather than a stand-alone camera device, allowing officers to use all features of the device to document incidents, crime scenes, and evidence. All of the gathered data is automatically uploaded and stored to a secure server decreasing the amount of time it takes officers to process digital evidence and allowing them to return to their patrol duties more rapidly.
